Sugar Maple
Sugar maple (Acer saccharum) also known as hard maple or rock maple is wood from the same trees that are used to produce maple syrup. Native to the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada, sugar maple is a cream colored tight grained wood. Sugar maple is commonly used where strength is valued. Some well known examples are basketball courts, bowling alleys, hockey sticks and increasingly baseball bats.
Unsurprisingly, hard maple is… well, hard. With a hardness rating of 1450, it is the hardest cutting board that we offer. This gives maple cutting boards great durability, though caution should be used with fine, very sharp blades as they will tend to dull quicker.
As with all of our cutting boards, cherry is sustainably grown and harvested in the USA.
